The Team

The DNAVision team is made up of engineers, pharmacists, medical doctors, PhD scientists and laboratory technicians. Our scientists have experience in molecular biology and medicine and we are all familiar with the quality systems implemented in pharmaceutical companies. Together with our scientists, Financial and human Ressource Officers, Quality Managers, Business development Managers and Scientific advisors take part in the Management Team of the DNAVision Group.

We provide access to a network of scientific expertise via our scientific board, shareholders and partners. An important member of this network is the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) specialised in molecular biology and medicine and the Université de Liège (ULG) specialised in microbiology and veterinarian studies.

Management Team

Mr Jean-Pol Detiffe, Chief Executive Officer DNAVision and Chairman of the Board of DNAVision AgriFood

Jean-Pol is an industrial pharmacist with an additional qualification of MBA.
Before founding DNAVision, he held various posts in the pharmaceutical industry and is therefore well versed in the relevant quality standards (GLP, ISO17025,etc.). He is in charge of business strategy, setting up industrial partnerships.

Dr. Christina Franssen, Member of the Board and General Manager of DNAVision AgriFood s.a.

Christina is a molecular biologist with a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Liège. As General Manager and Lab Director of DNAVision AgriFood SA , she is in charge of laboratory management in Quality environement (planning assays and R&D) and client support.

Mr Guy Helin, Chief Financial Officer of DNAVision s.a.

Guy is a commercial engineer working for different institutions/companies like Biovallee, Tivoli Hospital, Delphi Genetics. He helps the board for strategic and financial decisions.

Mr Dimitri Lhoste, Human Ressources Officer of DNAVision s.a.

Dimitri is an economist having a large experience in spin-off management. Dimitri is responsible of day-to-day running of the administrative and human resource management of the company.

Mr Jacques A. Berlo, PGX Scientific Advisor of DNAVision s.a.

Jacques is an industrial pharmacist and clinical biologist with more than 20 years practical experiences in the field of regulatory affairs (GMP, GLP), the management of phase I unit and clinical trials. He has also more than 15 years in the application of pharmacogenetics in the field of clinical trials and personalized medicine.

Mr Michäel Herman, Business Development Manager.

Michäel is a biologist with a M.Sc. degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Namur (FUNDP).He shared his career between research (URBC-FUNDP, Lambdatech) and commercial (Pfizer, Eurogentec, Unibioscreen) positions. He is in charge of communication, marketing, contract negociation and customer management.

Dr Patricia Liénard, Member of the Board, Laboratory Manager, Chief Operating Officer of DNAVision s.a.

Patricia is a chemist with a PhD in the area of molecular biology. As Laboratory Manager, she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the laboratory (management of analysts, results, etc.) and for the development of new techniques and test lines.

Dr. Sebastien Massart, General Manager of DNAVision AgriFood s.a.

Sebastien is a bio-engineer with a pHD in Molecular Microbiology and an additional qualification of MBA. As General Manager of DNAVision AgriFood SA, he is in charge of all aspects of Business Development, e.g. customer relationship management, partnership identification, R&D projects and financial matters.

Dr Roser Sens Espel, Member of the Board of DNAVision s.a., DNA Unit Manager

Roser has a degree in Animal Biology. She has a postgraduate in phytopharmacy (specialisation in molecular biology). She is in charge of planning the technicians’ work in the genomics laboratory.

Dr Jean-François Laes, Microarray unit manager

Jean-François, with a PhD in molecular biology from ULB, is in charge of planning the technician’s work in the microarray unit. He is also one of those responsible for research and development of new products, services and software in the research laboratory. He is one of the scientific representatives of the company

Dr Laurent Gatto, Bioinformatics manager

Laurent Gatto has a PhD in molecular biology from the Free University of Brussels (ULB). As a project leader, he is in charge of planning the technician’s work in the Microarray unit. As a bioinformatician, he develops analysis algorithms and tools. He collaborates with Jean-Francois Laes in the research and development of new products, services and software.

Dr Patrice Godard, Bioinformatics manager

Patrice Godard has a PhD in molecular biology from the Free University of Brussels (ULB). He is in charge of setting up efficient statistical tools and softwares for the analysis of high-throughput data. He also collaborates with Jean-François Laes and Laurent Gatto in the research and development of new products and softwares.

Ms Micheline Defreyne, Quality Assurance Manager

Micheline is a bioengineer, she coordinates implementation and development of the DNA quality system integrating ISO 17025, GLP, GMP and all applicable requirements related to DNA and RNA analysis. The DNAVision laboratory quality policy aims to assure quality of assays results sent to DNAVision's customers and comply with official and customers quality requirements.

Scientific Advisory Board

Professor Michel Goldman
Professor Michel Goldman is the Head of IMI (Institute of Medical Immunology - Université Libre de Bruxelles). His major scientific achievements include pioneer clinical studies with interleukin-10 and anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody in kidney transplant recipients, the identification of new mechanisms underlying tolerance to allografts in newborns, and the discovery of a new immunosuppressive drug targeting calcium channels in T lymphocytes. These and other studies resulted in 240 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 23 book chapters. Michel Goldman held the Spinoza chair at the University of Amsterdam in 2001 and received one of the most prestigious Belgian awards for clinical sciences, the "Prix Quinquennal du Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique".

Professor Bruno Flamion
Dr. Flamion is an alternate member of the Committee for Human Medicinal Products (CHMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) and the Vice-Chair of the Pharmacogenetics Expert Group attached to the CHMP. He chairs the Scientific Advice Working Group and the subgroup on pharmacokinetics of the Efficacy Working Party of the CHMP. Dr Flamion is medical and pharmacological expert at the Directorate-General: Public Health Protection: Medicinal Products for the Belgian Federal Public Service in Brussels. He is the Head of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Medical School of the University of Namur, Belgium, where he has been Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology since 1996. Prior to that, Dr Flamion was a Research Associate of the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS). He is an MD with board certification in Internal Medicine and a holds a PhD in Physiological Sciences from the University of Brussels.
