Exctraction of DNA and RNA from Blood
Blood and other biofluids such as serum, plasma, urine and saliva are high value non-invasive materials used in the discovery and development of biomarkers. They are also important for future DNA/RNA biomarker molecular diagnostic tests.

Description of our services
Overview
Depending on the requirements of our customers, we can extract the genomic DNA and RNA (including miRNAs) either together or sequentially . This allows several genomic applications using the same sample without any sampling biases.
Work flow for sample preparation:
- RNA extraction using a PAXgene Blood RNA Kit (Qiagen/Preanalytix) and DNA extraction using a column based method
N.B. We have also set up a new protocol if miRNAs are required
- QC of the yield and quality of extraction by NanoDrop or PicoGreen
- QC of the quality of RNA using an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer
- QC of the quality of DNA using an agarose gel
RNA deliverables and QCs
For every extraction, we provide you with the spectrophotometric data (including the 260/280 and 260/230 ratios), the RNA Integrity Number (RIN) values and the original electropherogram. The RNA can either be stored in our Biobank or shipped to your facility after the downstream process.
All samples prepared by DNAVision are routinely qualified with a NanoDrop spectrophotometer and an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer. For anything concerning the downstream application related to either next gen sequencing or microarray; an RIN value of minimum 7.5 is recommended
DNA deliverables and QCs
For every extraction, we provide you with the spectrophotometric r data (including the 260/280 and 260/230 ratios) and a photographs of the agarose gel. The DNA can either be stored in our Biobank or shipped to your facility after the downstream process.
All DNA samples prepared by DNAVision are routinely qualified with a NanoDrop spectrophotometer or by PicoGreen and gel electrophoresis.
Depending on downstream applications such as like SNP genotyping , Sanger DNA Sequencing , Next Gen Sequencing or DNA Copy number analysis) some specific buffers are used.
Turnaround time
Most projects are completed in one to two weeks. If you have a critical time requirement, we can often meet your needs.
